TC 8.6 is focused on cooling towers, both open and closed circuit, as well as evaporative condensers for commercial comfort cooling, light industrial, and refrigeration applications. Our members offer their wide knowledge on these topics in many different Society activities.

In an effort to further knowledge and understanding in our field, TC 8.6 sponsors Research Projects, either solely or in conjunction with other Technical Committees. We also sponsor relevant seminars, symposiums, forums, and/or technical papers.

Our Committee is also responsible for the writing and revision of Chapters 35 and 36 of the HVAC Systems & Equipment Handbook dealing with cooling towers and evaporative condensers respectively. In this effort, we coordinate with other Committees on relevant chapters, such as Chapter 13, Condenser Water Systems (HVAC Systems & Equipment) and Chapter 47, Water Treatment (HVAC Applications).
